Some weeks ago, the DigiUGov team had the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting & Contact-Making Seminar organised by the European Commission, for Latin America and the Caribbean, held on October 1st and 2nd in Montevideo, Uruguay. The event brought together representatives from various Erasmus+ projects and served as an excellent platform to exchange ideas on strengthening digital competences in higher education.
Virginia Viñoles Cosentino (UJI), along with Luisa Fernanda Villamizar Rodríguez (ASCUN) y Rafael Calles (UPB), represented the DigiUGov project. Virginia was a speaker on the panel “Equipping learners with digital competences,” where she shared the stage with colleagues such as Carolina Aguerre from the Universidad Católica del Uruguay (Hemispheres Project), Carolina Carvalho and Allan Moreira Xavier from }UFABC Brazil (EMBRACE Project), and Mariana Silveira from the GreEn Project (Gurises Unidos, Uruguay), moderated by Ester Montiel from EACEA (European Comission). The panel discussion focused on various strategies that Erasmus+ projects are implementing to enhance students’ digital competences.
This was a great opportunity for us to present the initiatives we have been working on through DigiUGov and share our experience in the digitalisation of university governance, administrative processes, and teaching in higher education institutions across Latin America and Europe. The event also provided a chance to listen to the experiences of other projects and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse educational realities being addressed in Latin America and the Caribbean in the context of digital transformation.
The event not only facilitated the exchange of ideas but also opened doors for future collaborations with other Erasmus+ institutions and projects. These connections will help us continue advancing the development of digital competences and strengthen our international working networks.
Participating in events like this is essential to stay updated and continue contributing to the growth and innovation in higher education, especially in a global context where digitalisation plays a crucial role in the evolution of teaching and research.
