One of the pillars of DigiUGov is promoting digitalization as a strategy for inclusion. In line with this vision, the DigiUGov team at the University of Guadalajara is proud to share the Totlajtol Portal
Totlajtol is derived from a Nahuatl syntagma, which can be translated into Spanish as “nuestra palabra”. This name pays tribute to the Nahua individuals and communities who, in their own words, defended their integrity, family, community, territory, and possessions.
The Totlajtol Portal offers a unique digital repository featuring a curated collection of colonial documents from the western region of Mexico. Written in Nahuatl, these documents showcase a “scribal” or “notarial” linguistic register produced within legal-administrative contexts—originally intended to promote linguistic inclusion.
We congratulate the team for this excellent work and hope that it will be a tool that will continue to be updated and grow to promote the Nahuatl language.
